Our Hostel

Hostel Sjonarholl

Constructed in 1897 the hostel was originally built as the first school in the village, years later it became the local bakery before being renovated and turned into the hostel that our family has run for nearly 30 years. Based in the old part of Stykkisholmur hostel Sjonarholl is full of character and has a great dining area and balcony where guests can sit and admire the views of the harbour.

Facilities

Within the hostel, there is a choice of double rooms, family rooms and dorm beds (max of 6 beds per room). We do cater for families and have baby cots available on request.

If you don’t have your own sleeping bags, linen can be hired for a small fee. There is free Wi Fi, ample parking and we offer discounted tickets for the local geothermally heated swimming pool.

There is a fully equipped communal kitchen and dining area, with a balcony where guests can host small barbeques during the long summer nights. After a long day of exploring, guests are welcome to sit in the communal areas where you can relax, swap notes, and make new friends!
